Biography
Joachim Lafosse is a Belgian film director and screenwriter. From 1997 to 2001, he studied at the Institute of Broadcasting Arts in Louvain-la-Neuve. His graduation project, a 24-minute film titled “Tribe,” won the short film competition at the International Francophone Film Festival in Namur in 2001. After his first feature film, “Private Madness” (2004), Lafosse's second film, “What Makes You Happy,” won the Grand Prize at the Angers Film Festival in 2007 and the FIPRESCI Prize at the Bratislava International Film Festival. In 2006, Lafosse directed the family drama “Private Property,” starring Isabelle Huppert, as well as Jérémie and Yannick Renier. The film competed for the Golden Lion at the 2006 Venice International Film Festival. In 2023, Lafosse presented his new film, “The Silence,” at the San Sebastián Film Festival.
