The film is based on video footage shot directly on the battlefield. “Sopilka” is the code name for a radio communication gun. Figuratively, the cannon resembles a flute, and such an instrument would be suitable for the god of thunder, Perun. The characters in the movie are artillery soldiers.
Different people in peaceful life – in war, they are in the same limited space, a few hundred meters away, and serve as if they were ancient priests of a pagan tribe in a sacred place, and their altar is a cannon.

Biography
Yevhen Mazurenko was born and lives in Kyiv. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in April 2022. He served as a signalman in an infantry company and is now a photojournalist with the 4th Rapid Response Brigade of the Rubizh National Guard. In 2023, he graduated from the Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University of Cinema, Theater and Television with a degree in cinematography. The documentary “Perun's Flute” is his feature debut as a director and cinematographer..
